Hotel in Millesimo

Millesimo is an old village on the shores of the homonymous Bormida, a peculiar triangular shape, its centre culminating in the castle and its base being the palace of the Del Carrettos. Probably already inhabited in Roman epoch, Millesimo was included in the Marca Aleramica and belonged to Bonifacio del Vasto. Subsequently it became the centre of power of the Del Carretto marquises and in the 15th century went to the Viscounts of Milan. Millesimo was taken by the Spanish in the seventeenth century, and in the eighteenth century became part of the kingdom of the Savoys. On 13 and 14 April 1796 two important battles took place at Millesimo and Cosseria and a Piedmontese garrison led by Filippo Del Carretto succeeded in halting the Napoleonic advance for two days. The local handicraft is one of the principal characteristics of the city, with the production of objects in iron, beaten copper and sandstone. A town of the truffle, every year in September it organizes an important feast dedicated to this speciality. Not to be missed is the Bric Tana Nature Park and the Valley of the Three Kings, an ideal place for trekking and excursions. In the area called “Tana dra vurp”, archaeological excavations have brought to light finds from the Bronze Age.
